    Yeah, look...

    Literally no-one here thinks that.

We know why it happens. We don't want an explanation. All we want is to remind people that whatever the setting is, you don't need to have a monoculture. If you've thought about it and that's genuinely what's best for your story, fine. But make it a conscious choice, not a default or an assumption that minorities simply wouldn't exist in your setting. Think about the stories you could tell if they were there, think about what it could add.

This isn't about getting offended. It's just about some people wanting to see other people kinda like them in the books they like to read. That's it. Someone was like "Hey I'd like to see more characters like this" and for some reason that brings out a load of people saying "That's impossible for REASONS" or "Why do you want to erase some of the bazillions of characters who look like me" or "You shouldn't care about that".

And you don't get to tell people what they should or shouldn't care about, especially if it's not something you've ever had to care about yourself.

This thread is running in circles and it's hard to imagine anything new could be said about the subject. All the arguments have been made.

After discussing with the mods, I'm closing this thread because it will most likely circle back to salty bickering soon enough. It has served its purpose and anyone undecided on the topic can read through past 20+ pages and educate themselves if they so wish.
