Why do people write their novels poetically?

    It suits some fantasy.

    Honestly, I figure most people find the act of reading to be somewhat boring, like listening to a casino blues cover band. May as well put everything you got into each sentence.

    That being said, you don't want to go all the way to the other side, either. In my experience, it works best when you let flowery sentences be crescendos - moments where you suddenly realize everything before it has been setting up a home run.
