What compells you to write?: My on going drive to make this my primary source of income. Also, to express my thoughts on any given subject. And feedback, positive feedback give the motivation to keep writing. Why do you write?: I love to tell a story and deliver a message you may not ever hear before. Plus it's my dream to make it my primary source of income. What makes you write what you write: A brillant idea that starts a new story or brings the ideas I have together. What Made you decide you like to write? In sixth grade, I wrote little superhero stories and plays. Ever since then I loved the freedom of writing a story and getting paid from it (even though I never been a paid writer) I digged the idea because it felt like Im my own boss. What Do You Write? I write for my own fictional/poetry blog site, pyersedandridge.com and Im currently writing a black history play for a church.
1. I just love doing it,it relaxes me. 2. Why wouldn't i write, thats the question. 2.i don't really know, personal taste i guess? 4.the first time i took up a pen and started scribbling down some things. 5.Fantasy,a way to let out all my weird thoughts.
Well at first like when I was nine or so i would creat stories and incarnate their main caractrs, so in the begginings it was merely a way to put myself out of this world and into my own. Then i started to write a book when i was ten, it was really small, after trying to write a few others over the next two days i knew that writing books was not my thing, i wanted to be able to view my ideas, so i started to gather ideas movie-oriented, bn gathering them ever since i as 12, now i'm 19 and i have 600 pages of scripts, stories is just something that comes natural to me, my brain just needs to be home alone and create a whole world in my house, then i'm consumed by it and the story pops up. College is something that its really bothering me now because it just kills my time and doesn't allow me to let my creativity flow. basically my thing is to creat stories, the why is due to two things, my imagination demands it, and the world is just too boring for someone who makes a living studying, one thing led to another and now creating stories is a part of me... two years...not days...XD
I have always had a very vivid imagination since a kid and always have done. I started reading and writing when i was about 8-9 years old and haven't stopped since, even when i joined the Armed forces. I love to use my imagination and entertain
What compells you to write? No idea what compells means. Why do you write? Because I wish to become a Author, and gain great honor and fame from so. What makes you write what you write? I am very intrested in the Supernatural, So I enjoy writing stories about it. What Made you decide you liked to write? I have recent thoughts about writing my own books. What Do You Write? Horror. Any thing that involves death, Demons, Spirits, etc. I will make a story about so.
I can tell you the reasons why I do it, but that doesn't mean I like the process of doing it. Writing is a very tedious task to do. -I'm on a mission. I have something to say. I want to get my points across. There is a story I want to tell. -I want to be respected as an artist -I believe one can be immortalized with writing -I like being in control. You are god in your own world. -I do wish to become an author and gain fame, honor, etc -It is an outlet to express myself -I have tons of ideas. Might as well put them to good use. Since I was a child, my teachers have always told me I was the most creative person they have ever met. -Although I don't like the process of writing, it is quite rewarding when you are done. You get that sense of accomplishment of beating an unbearable task. -I am bored of western fantasy literature. I want to write what I actually want to read. (I'm tired of elves, vampires, dragons, unicorns, aliens, and whatnots. I've always stated to my friends, why can't western fantasy novels deal with more original themes like that have in Japanese Manga or Chinese Epic/Wushu Stories. Or, if you are going to write something that is clicheish, I say take a page out of Rowling's book and reinvent the genre. Don't just write to satisfy your own ego. Write what readers want to read!) -I get inspired when I see a movie or art which is I think is superior. Like those writers, authors, directors, painters, etc, -- I want to give back to society with my works of entertainment.
What compells you to write? I get this numb throbbing feeling in the back of my head and a pulsating pressure below my diaphragm. If I try and ignore it, my mind actually refuses to think about anything other than plot, characters, dialogue and at times, my series soundtrack. If I sit down in front of my computer with a cup of tea and start churning out words, the strange feelings go away. Why do you write? I write because the world gets better when I do. I lock myself away in my bedroom, crank up the iTunes and let my fingers tap away at Microsoft Word. My walls look like a filing cabinet threw up all over them, I have sticky notes everywhere and my room is just an enormous mess. But I love my writing space, and I love what I create there. I write because I love to write. What makes you write what you write? I have a passion for the programs I watch on television, the books I read and the conversations I have. I like to form my own twist on certain aspects of this passion, to create characters which fit the roles I view as ideal. Maybe it's some sort of control complex. Sometimes, however, it's different. I get sick of the vampires, the Mary Sues, the blatant disregard of the English language, and the low standard modern publishing companies set. Then I want to defy everything, defy the mainstream market and create something that is entirely my own, something I can't entirely link to an already existing item. What Made you decide you liked to write? I was nine. I wanted to write a ninja story because I did. Over the summer holidays, I did so. I felt good, and I was enjoying myself. From that moment on, I decided that I loved to do it. Seeing as that passion hasn't extinguished itself thus far, I continue to do it. What Do You Write? Fiction. Fantasy, Adventure, Science Fiction, Horror, Crime and, I guess, YA at times. I write whatever comes into my head. More often than not, the less passionate I am about an idea, the more likely it is that it will fail and I'll move on to something else.
What compells you to write? I write to convey messages that people don't want to believe and that are real problems in our society. Why do you write? I write because I want to get closure of demons in my life and try to make sense of them through writing. What makes you write what you write? Human interaction and the hypocrisy of life What Made you decide you liked to write? Personal demons What Do You Write? Crime fiction
i write to tell stories. so when i am gone they will be the lips which slur my emotion, stories, thoughts, and pain
What compels you to write? It's an urge that builds up over time. Eventually I have to write something. Why do you write? In the past, it was for fun. Right now it offers an escape. What makes you write what you write? I enjoy it. What Made you decide you liked to write? My dad was writing a novel when I was around 12 or so, he was doing it on an old Apple computer and we had just gotten a Windows PC. For Christmas my brother, sister and I printed out his story and typed it up on the new computer. It's the only time I've ever seen him emotional over a gift he received. And that reaction helped push me to write. What Do You Write? I've mostly written Fantasy with the occasional Historical Fiction thrown in there. However my most recent project is a kids story.
What compels you to write? The fact that I probably wouldn't be breathing without it. Why do you write? I think that everyone has something to say and for me writing is the best way for me to do that. I can make my statement, voice my reason and in turn liberate my mind. What makes you write what you write? Those people that I encounter who have no logical reasoning to what they write. I've been on many forum sites finding posts, stories and even just sentences that make me want to throw my computer across the room, but instead I calm down and write (type) my response to them...which usually always ends up ignored, but that only entices me to continue writing. What made you decide you liked to write? I think since I was in the third I have always enjoyed writing stories. Now, I'll take any form of writing I can get, although, some of them like writing songs and poems I don't find to be my area of expertise. Right now the only explanation I can give is that if I didn't do it I couldn't live my life as I want to. What Do You Write? Anything. I love all kinds of writing even if I am not any good at it.
Good questions. What compells you to write? The inner wish to express something. Why do you write? That's interesting. As a matter of fact, I could also not write. I could, for instance, direct a movie about the stories I've in mind, probably it would be easier since I see the scenes, but unfortunately I'm not a director and I don't have possibilities to direct a movie, therefore I try at least to write my ideas. What makes you write what you write? My past. What I liked and I like in literature, cinema and music. I grew up watching japanese anime like Robotech, Captain Harlock, Starblazers, war movies, reading Stephen King, Umberto Eco, minor horror and sci-fi authors etc..and along with my real life experiences they consists my "background". What Made you decide you liked to write? I havent' decided yet that I like to write. I'll decide so when I'll see at least a complete work that satisfies me as a reader. What Do You Write? I'm planning to write a series of novels, a saga. It's complicated to explain in few words, it's something BIG. Like the Lord of the Rings. Like the Black Tower, maybe even bigger. It is a summary of all my experiences and things that I lke: music, esoterism, military history, flying, sci-fi, horror etcc... I wonder if I'll ever be able to complete this project.
creative writing carries the torch for living the considered life; it's an evolutionary impulse and everyone feels it in some way or other, at some time or other...personally I think it is a halfway house between material and materialist living on the one hand, and spiritual enlightenment on the other...becoming a creative writer speeds up the karmic process ..it's like music, of course, in many respects [playing a musical instrument all day keeps your mind on good things and keeps your ass out of trouble] - but it is clearly more dangerous, for two reasons: writers have to entertain ideas and thoughts which are not very good for their 'souls' in order to engge and hold a reader.. and then of course there is the fact that power does not want writers prying into its cosy arrangements and shedding light on its secrets, even if only metaphorically [like Shakespeare writing about 'Denmark' while living in a virtual police state very aptly described in a Thom Gunn poem the name of which I forget]. So hang in there and good luck. RL
What compels you to write? Sometimes it can be one little thought, just a flash of a face or a reaction to something. It brings on this sudden whoosh of excitement and I am reaching for a pen or opening a new file to take notes. Not all of the ideas are used but that feeling is great. Why do you write? I wouldn't say I love to write. Although when it's good there is no better feeling. It pulls me into the world I am writing and everything else disappears. It feels like brining a dream to life. I never thought I could write until I read a book that pissed me off. I made it my mission to rewrite it and give it a better...everything I guess. Instead I was completely inspired and came up with my own idea and forgot about the one that had irritated me. It's funny now, I went back and reread the one that inspired me and now I like it lol. What makes you write what you write? It's a way to escape my dull existence. I love the character, her job, everything about her world. Honestly when I write I have the initial idea, then I just write and words come out of me so fast I can barely keep up. That doesn't happen every time but I live for those moments. I love the genre I write in but I didn't like the decadence and the build ups that really turn out to be just ego wanking... that's what I call it anyway. When the characters explain how big and bad they are then mostly just strut around trying to look impressive and are defeated rather easily. I always hated that and wanted to write something more believable. Whether I actually did or only in my mind remains to be seen lol. What Made you decide you liked to write? The first time I had one of those "Holy Sh*t!" moments as I reread what I wrote. To be sure I wasn't just amusing myself I had someone read it and they laughed too. I was addicted after that. Of course with that said, I hate writing when the character gives you the finger and sits and pouts. You can almost hear them in your saying, "Nope...not gonna do it and you know you can't make me." I have no punctuation skills or any knowledge really when it comes to structure, so editing is about as fun for me as old world amputation. What Do You Write? Fiction. Fantasy, Adventure, Horror... it's a little of everything. I wasn't too hung up on a specific genre. I write about real characters, real people with real feelings. Even though they live in a world with supernatural things, the supernatural things don't define the story. I write for myself, if other people don't like it thats cool. In the end the fact that I created something that I truly love is enough for me.
What compells you to write? Usually, simply because I want to. Though, I am compelled by grad school to write lengthy papers, by sudden sparks of inspiration that demand attention, or by an idea stewing in my head that requires extention. Sometimes, it's what I want to say. Sometimes, it just needs to be said. Why do you write? Even though my writing leaves much to be desired, there's a feeling of accomplishment, of 'no one ever wrote it exactly like this before,' of relief when the stories in my head have a place to go. I truly enjoy playing out the story to the end. I like to develop glimpses into life, into death, into action, into inaction. I like creating characters with depth as well as surface quirks. I just like it. What makes you write what you write? Depends on what I'm writing. Sometimes it's an exercise to develop skill in character-building, scenery, action, feeling, etc. Sometimes it's to inspire others to action. Sometimes it's to expose the truth, and sometimes it's to escape it. What Made you decide you liked to write? NaNoWriMo. I'd always had a hundred million bajillion ideas and stories swimming around in my head, but I always knew I sucked royally at writing. What Do You Write? Everything. I'm not a great writer, and I'll never be known for it. But I write because it makes me smile.
What compells you to write? The idea that ten years from now I can look back at what I once wrote, giggle maybe, and take ideas I like from them and re-write them in a more skillful manner. Why do you write? My friend likes to critique the things I write, if it weren't for him I'd rarely write at all. What makes you write what you write? Negativity and spite towards a lot of things, it comes out in my writing as sarcastic and cynical. I like humour. What Made you decide you liked to write? My sister, I guess. And in 5th grade they were holding a short story contest and I wanted to be cool and win it. I didn't though, but whatever. What Do You Write? Stories about people who don't mean anything to the rest of the world; stories about normal people- aka Intro to Nothing. Humour/ romance.
What compells you to write? Boredom, inspiration, any powerful emotion, witnessing something really beautiful/tragic/unqiue... Why do you write? I write to vent, to create.. I write basically because it's what I love to do. It makes me feel as if life is beautiful and meaningful (when really it isn't). It's also a way to more effectively convey a feeling, or communicate a message. What makes you write what you write? I have always been attracted to fiction, so I write that a lot. I also like to write about human emotion, human experiences. Real feelings, in order to express my opinion about them I guess. What Made you decide you liked to write? I've always naturally been drawn to it, and it helped a bit being told I was good at it. What Do You Write? Fiction/Realistic Fiction.
1) The dream of becoming an author, the idea that I can create worlds with a pen, maybe one day hook reader after reader irresistibly into the thing I write time and time again. The idea that rather then having the simple happy ending I can twist a story backward and forward, making it mine and making it real. 2) I write because it is the one thing I can do well and enjoy. I believe I can make a career out of being original, experimental and versatile about my writing, and I am constantly learning how to do that. If I can learn to be more commited and not distracted, I can become a great author, I believe that 100%. 3) The things I write are inspired upon the wierd or the twist. The wierd being the imagination behind a story, and how that story would work. The twist being the story that is unpredictable. The unpredictable story is something I aspire to - something that the readers will not see coming and yet understand at the same time. I also write to teach, in a strange way, something to the reader, that is if they look deeper into the text, analyse its workings. 4) It was partly the fact that I am relatively average at everything else and had no desire to pursue them compared to writing, and also the of mice and men extra chapter i wrote for english one year, which i got an A* for (an enjoyment to read) it occured then that that was my path to take. Over time Ive learnt to read more, sharpen my writing, take inspiration from everything. I am quite lucky that I stumbled across my sisters art gallery - otherwise I would never have wrote with the openmindedness I think I can. 5) I write whatever I can. If someone challenges me to write a certain way I will try it. If I think of some wierd new idea, I will write a document into my laptop with just a few words on that story idea. I'm looking into writing script because my dad wanted me to, I'm in to writing short stories because they improve your general style. I take alot of inspiration from Stephen King's The dark tower which I found bizzare and strange, but I dont think I have that looseness of imagination just yet.
1. What compells you to write? 2. Why do you write? 3. What makes you write what you write? 4. What Made you decide you liked to write? 5. What Do You Write? ---------- What compells a painter to paint? Why do photographers take pictures? What makes actors want to be on stage/on film? What made sculptors decide they liked to sculpt? What do singers sing? What the root cause of any art is the same across the spectrum of arts amongst humanity, in my opinion- that is, they are the expressions of our innermost beings via corporeal/physical/bodily media. In that sense, I believe we, as artists, as well as artists of any other field, do what we do, feel driven to do what me do and like what we do because it's our innermost desire and calling. Abstract thoughts aside, I will share my down-to-earth, and probably more expected answers with everyone: 1. <Refer to Above> 2. <Same as above> 3. The desire to share something with others, or to enlighten entertain an audience, while also conveying some sort of moral lesson in a captivating, fantastic way as to truly impact my audience. 4. Grade 2 Creative Writing, where I wrote my first short story series (when I say short, I mean short. But hey, I was 7 years old). We'd have Creative Writing every day, but once a week the teacher would have a select number of students share their stories out loud to the class. I was volunteered by a friend (much to my chagrin) but apparently I had a bit of a knack for the craft, because the whole class loved what I wrote, and I became somewhat of a weekly highlight/hit. People's feedback fuels and drives me to continue with a craft that I was gifted with. Why not use, cultivate and pursue mastery of such gifts if you're given them? 5. 95% of what I write is fiction. I love fantastical tales that have that degree of believability to them (not believability in the sense that Dragons and Sorcery can't exist. But I think you know what I mean). Anything adventurous, with a quest (of any kind, big or small) to be done. Anything with dynamic characters and a captivating plot-line, full of descriptiveness-particulary when pertaining to characters. Annnnddd... End post.
Whoa! Wait. You mean I have a choice? I've been writing almost as long as I can remember. And by that, I mean creative writing, not just my name on a page at the age of 4! Short stories, songs, poetry, non-fiction, but, mostly, full novel-length fiction. I have, in fact, tried on several occasions to NOT write. It sucks me back in like a black hole. A story I left unfinished suddenly calls to me with an idea for a character. Another may interrupt my life with some new plot line. And yet, still another may pop up brand new in my mind and will not let me rest until I have put it on paper or in my computer. I have file cabinets full of notes on more mss than I will ever be able to write in three lifetimes. Great ideas one and all but I just don't have the time to devote to them. What makes me write what I write? Whatever moves me emotionally, intellectually, spiritually at any given moment is what I write. (Hence the file cabinet full of ideas!) What Made you decide you liked to write? I never did. In fact, there are times when I think I may hate it! There are episodes in my life when I just can't seem to move a character or situation beyond a certain point. I agonize when I realize I have to scrap 40 pages of a novel because it revolves around a character that just doesn't belong in this story. Then, when my characters turn their backs on me and refuse to talk to me and tell me their stories, that's when I hate writing. The rest of the time, I just do it because I can't not do it. Nope. I never decided I liked to write. I just recognized it is, for me, as involuntary as breathing. What Do You Write? Again, whatever moves my soul. I write western sagas with an inspirational twist, family sagas (with plenty of sex and drugs and ... but little inspiration). I write fantasy and romance; fiction and non-fiction. Do anything ... just don't bore me!
1. What compels you to write? Life. Simply put. A stranger on the train, homeless cats, funny things my friends say to me, and over heard conversations. Life compels me to write about it, to document it, to invent, to speculate. 2. Why do you write? I simply can't not write. 3. What makes you write what you write? All the aforementioned. 4. What made you decide you liked to write? It's simply evolved over time from my very first short story - a poorly constructed tale about a man who liked boxes. He liked boxes so much he decided that no one else should have them, only he. So he hoarded them all, every single box in existence in his houses. Obviously it was a very large house. Then his neighbour - angry that he had no boxes to pack his nicknack's away into - set his house on fire, and there were no more boxes. Reading it back a few months ago - a good twelve years after its creation - made me decided that I much preferred my writing now. 5. What Do You Write? I write lives, social commentaries and the occasional psychological thriller. Also, a lot of poetry.
