I write because i sometimes just get the urge to put ideas into words. I can't exactly explain it. I can't exactly remember what made me want to write although many film directors have had an effect on me as i started out writing small scripts for my own amusement. I get inspiration from many things, going for a walk, dreams, things i see in the day, things i hear, music, movies, books, games, art. I could go on. I mainly write for my own enjoyment, very few people have actually read my work.

I just couldn't imagine myself not writing. It's not like I do not enjoy it (I do) and it's not like I don't have stories inside me (there are) but i imagine if I didn't have stories I'd be writing non-fiction (I do that too, but that is beside the point), and if I didn't enjoy writing I'd find some other way of creating.

I write because it's the only place where I don't have a boss or subordinates. It's my place where I can let loose. Some women have their bathrooms and a hot tub, I have a blank sheet of paper.

I write because I love doing it. I'm more often than not depressed and writing from the perspective of characters who are apathetic and often like me or even unlikable monsters of people keeps me sane somehow. If I happen to think of a story that makes me feel something extraordinary, I write it with the tone I want to get across. And like others have mentioned here, I have no one dictating what I write. I write what I know and I write what I feel with no one who can say something is too graphic or gritty. It's raw and unadulterated excerpts of my mind I write, nothing more and nothing less.

I write to evoke emotions out of people. It can succeed or fail miserably. But once some of those emotions are pulled out of people, it can change them to be better people. Since I aim to screenplays, I feel cinema is a great way to change a persons look on a matter. Powerful stuff.

I write because every morning when I wake up I get this urge to find the nearest computer and write something down. It doesn't matter what--that interesting person I saw on the train, a beautiful sunset, my emotions, a short story, a fantasy world--something always is making me type.

I also write because no one else in the world can write like I can (simply being unique) and I write in so many ways...it's one of the beautiful freedoms in my life.

Why do I write? Totally complex answer coming up.

Writing is, in fact, one of my pet hates and sole torments as I feel writing is largely incapable of the same degree of emotion as many other mediums, notably film, and writing can rarely, if ever, reach as wide an audience as less cerebral offerings. Moreover, countless millions are able to write competently, while the number of capable artists, directors, and musicians is much smaller in comparison. However, writing is the form of self-expression that allows one the widest range of powers over presentation - it is capable of a snapshot, conveying great lengths of time, conveying significant instants, talking to the heart, and surviving for centuries after its creation.

That doesn't change the fact that the need to write is my bitterest curse. How else am I supposed to stop myself going insane? Ideally I'd broadcast my thoughts directly into the heads of others; images, emotions, and everything else alike. That's not possible, though, so I have to make do with an art form that dilutes and rarely distills my creativity. Irritating as hell? Yes.

I write because it's something to do, and it stops me going crazy. A form of work to distract from Despair, in the philosophical sense. If other people like it, so much the better; if I manage to get across the first part of my mental state at the time of writing, so much the better.

    What compells you to write?
    Imagination

    Why do you write?
I love to day dream and when I day dream, I play around with characters in my mind. Sooner or later I develop a scene for them and just let it flow. I choose writing as a medium to express these scenes as I can't draw.

What makes you write what you write
    Passion
What Made you decide you liked to write?
Sometimes, I hate how most books has the same predictable storyline. So I decided to write my own and I seems to grow on to me.
    What Do You Write?
Adventure and Fantasy with a dash of humor.

I write because of an inexplicable urge to express thoughts and emotions on paper. It achieves clarity, catharsis and, if you keep your writing, it can be an historic record/artifact.

You 'create' something when you write. It is rather like painting, playing music and sculpting. Except writing is the closest to my soul.

    What compels you to write?

My life and what God has done in it. I think if people knew they would have the inspiration to go further in their Christianity.

    Why do you write?

I write to get my story out there. Maybe a person who is Christian will read it and see that God is love.

What makes you write what you write?

The feeling I get from seeing family being torn apart and brought back together. One thing that mends is love and having faith that what God does in our life is for a purpose.

What Made you decide you liked to write?

Back in my sophomore year I was forced into different classes and I was devastated by the result in grades. I was not there in the begging so how should I have known. How to do the work. I had one class that helped me through my worst of sorrow and suicidal thoughts and that was creative writing. It is as if that it where God wants me to go.

    What Do You Write?

I write the things that happened to me in a fantasy setting. Dragons, elf's, and dwarfs. I think humans would make my story complicated. I like to write short stories when I am stuck. sometimes something humorous comes to me out of nowhere and I write it.

    Why do I write

    I write because:
I can control it. It's my own world. It's my own place to be whoever I want to be and still come out smiling.
You know when you're so immersed in writing, everything else is numbed out and you can't remember your own last name?
    It's then, that I know I'm okay.
No matter what happens. It's all okay.

    What compells you to write?
Everything. The fact that I have to write, at least once every couple of days, or I don't feel whole.

    Why do you write?
Because I have to; otherwise, to be melodramatic, I wouldn't be able to cope with anything. And also I love it. :) I've been told I'm good, and I want to write as a career.

What makes you write what you write?
Depends on my mood... When I'm in a good mood, I tend to write happy things, because I can write more in-tune with that emotion. Same with sad, angry, etc. But sometimes, I just want to write something horror, or mystery, and it comes out of nowhere. I think it has to do with the stuff I read, honestly...

What Made you decide you liked to write?
When I was in first grade, I wrote a story that I still have. It was called The Lost Dog, and I submitted it into a writing contest. It won, surprisingly, and it was around then that I fell in love with the craft of writing. :)

    What Do You Write?
Anything that pops into my head. Even... *gulp* fanfiction.

    What compells you to write?

The desire to see what's in my head in some other medium, perferably the written one.

    Why do you write?

The above but also because it's extremely enjoyable to read it when it's done.

What makes you write what you write?

I suppose a long-term interest in fantasy, sci-fi and medieval is why.

What Made you decide you liked to write?

I don't fully understand that question, but I guess a need to express what was in my head.

    What Do You Write?

Mostly fantasy, sci-fi and medieval stories. Occasionally teen, historical fiction and equine stories. I have a universe I created that's been going on ten years now (over that, actually) and a new one I created that's about a year.

    What compells you to write?
Everything; God, even. Life... Something in my brain, something I cannot control, just clicks into place and tells me to write. It's a God-given talent of mine; A talent many people have potential for, but don't work at.

    Why do you write?
I write for many reasons. I write to entice others, to share a story I have created in the privacy of my own mind- and make it public; Known. I write because I have emotions locked within my heart, emotions I want to let out in an indirect way to my state of feelings. I write because I harbor a talent for it, an ability not everyone has. I write for me.

What makes you write what you write?

Many, many factors contribute to my writing.
The motivations for me to write what I write are, the majority of the time, influenced by my interests. Or my emotions, my intentions. Anything and everything. There are so many ideas lodged within my mind, I simply cannot write them all down within a lifetime.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
My talent for it; My ideas; The joy I find in it. The pressure it relieves from me... The very thought of becoming published someday, sharing my stories with others. Luckily, I've got quiet a long time to look forward to such a dream; As I'm only fourteen.

    What Do You Write?
Everything... Anything I'm feeling, it gets written down.
I am in the planning process of writing a novel right now, actually.
The genre? That is hard to explain.
Yet- my writing is not limited.

    What compells you to write?

Life, emotions, situations, bad and good and how we get out of them. Writing allows me to write and create my own story of fantasy, fiction and imagnination.
    Why do you write?

Wiritng is being creative with the mind, soul, imagination of such worlds or creatures that have not been created or are a part of the human world with a sensational twist.

I like to write sotries because it is a favorite past time of mine and I like it when people read them.

What makes you write what you write?

I write by imaginationm, music sours me own, yet reading the newspaper, watching telly, reading books offline and online can leadme to creating and enhancing creatures and humans.

What Made you decide you liked to write?

When I was in primary school, many years ago we always had the task on wrinting stories, atories which I got merrits and stars and good appraisals on it's plot, context and vividness.
My http://ladyspon.awardspace.com helped me to revive my writing when I was making a website for a college project in 2001, it gained great marks and I also decided to carry on adding and updating the site with stories and adventures.
The last time I added to my website was 2008, due to university I had to leave it alone whislt I studied but I also created a new blog in the begining of 2009 and added what was happening to the site and even create a couple of short stories that anyone could use for themselfs and even write their own story.

    What Do You Write?

I mainly write children and family stories via science fiction and fantasy with the odd twist of todays human world.

    What compells you to write?

A need to express myself in some expressionless way.

    Why do you write?

To soothe my mind of the racing thoughts that go around.

What makes you write what you write?

A black humor that we see all around us, something justifiable in the undeniable mixing pot of life.

What Made you decide you liked to write?

The feeling of being able to finish something that I started. To make something out of nothing and to be anyone I wanted and anyone I decided to create.

    What Do You Write?

I have no known preferance, but I guess I write about anything that comes to my heart. It can be something as easy as a bus-journey or an entire made-up Island destroyed in an Earthquake, I range from drama to personal and sometimes I make them both.

What compells you to write? Either a funny idea I had i just can't bear to let die or a personal event or belief I want to talk or develop.
    Why do you write?
Because I've been told by my teachers I'm good at it! And I enjoy writing, it's quite cathartic and can help release or cement an emotion.
What makes you write what you write?
Well partly I want to make people laugh, laughter has always been something I strive for, or it can be to help me get over something, it's quite a release to put your thoughts on a paper to look at
What Made you decide you liked to write?
Being told I'm good at it. I like it when people compliment me.
    What Do You Write?
Comedy mostly, but recently a lot more personal or darker poetry. I'm also starting to see the appeal in Tragedy, but I'd never write it without some humour, humourless plays can grate on me.

    What compells you to write
Noise. Background chatter. Being ADHD I have an edge over everyone else - I think the fact that I am ADHD makes me very creative. Anything I see is a story, movies especially. I go home and adapt a certian idea (although generally for fanfiction). I recently finished my book, The Suicide Note, although it needs finished and reviesed.

    Why do you write?
Because if I didn't, I couldn't get to sleep at night.

What makes you write what you write?
The little voices running around my head saying "squeak squeak, squeak squeak." I'm not kidding. ;)

What Made you decide you liked to write?
It was a great feeling to see my words etched out on paper and go and rework them.

    What Do You Write?

A mild attempt at humor, although most of my stories deal with real life isuses. Not one specific category.

    Since I'm new here I thought I'd give this a go~

    What compells you to write?
People compell me to write. Interesting people; they don't have to clever, funny, or even silly or dim; just ordinary people with extraordinary lives.

What makes you write what you write?
A love of expressing myself using the various incredible words available to us. Only in a story can you get away with using complex words without receiving strange looks from passers by.

    What Do You Write?
Science fiction, drama, and comedy. Most of this tends to come in the form of a fan-fiction, but I like to write original pieces now and again.
