Why do you write? I'm addicted and it makes me happy. What compels you to write? The connection I feel with my characters. What makes you write what you write? I only have two stories that I work on extensively. Unlike other things I've written the characters in these stories feel alive. Their worlds come from a mixture of my ethical background (Irish), the importance I place in family bonds, and they are just the stories I've been lucky enough to be given. What Made you decide you liked to write? I love to read and kicked around the idea of writing before I actually opened my first Word document for more than school work. Once I started doing it I was completely hooked. I had anxiety and other emotional issues before I started writing, but having this to hold on to has taken that away. When life can be stressful, I know that I will have this. What Do You Write? Fantasy.
What compels you to write? Usually it's a desire to escape the dull confines of daily life. Other times it's just to play with words, or to capture a certain image or feeling with prose. Why do you write? Writing is its own world, a world I often like better than this one. I write in times of stress, or when I'm moved by the beauty of nature or a particular setting, or when an idea takes shape in my head that's so vivid and unique it must be transferred to a page of some sort. It's mostly for my own satisfaction, so I don't often share my writing with others (one of the reasons I'm here is to try to overcome that, because I think I have something valid to say). What makes you write what you write? I'm fascinated by questions of what makes up reality and for lack of a better word, the paranormal. Things that are unexplained and the commonality between them that suggests there is a power of the mind beyond what we can currently measure, a subconscious nature to all of reality. I have several characters that fit with this concept and if I didn't write about them, I'd probably just end up talking to myself. What Made you decide you liked to write? I've been writing stories since I was in elementary school; I think mostly I just like going back and reading them for my own entertainment. It wasn't until my fourth grade teacher entered one of my stories in a Writers Fair and I won first prize and that I thought, "yeah, this is what I want to do with my life." Yet here I am a quarter of a century later, I work in a print shop and the only writing I get paid for consists of instructions on job tickets and emails to clients. Although I'm told I'm very good at both What Do You Write? Stream-of-consciousness journal entries, song lyrics, and a novel I keep revising and will probably never finish. I don't know if it's sci-fi/fantasy or what exactly, it's kind of my own weird thing.
I'm a sap at heart and mostly stick to writing romance stories set in small towns, and occasionally, I'll try my hand at a women's fiction piece also set in a small town. I write romances because I love the feel-good feeling they give you and how a happily-ever-after doesn't come easily but is given to the characters in the end. Other than that, I also blog on the art of writing, guest post on other blogs, and write freelance articles to make a passive income from my writing. -Lucy from http://www.howtowriteandwritewell.blogspot.com

My urge to create drives me to keep writing, even when I'm tired and want to sleep, it eggs me on. I succumb, "one more paragraph" has become my catch phrase. What makes you write what you write? I write fantastical stories, often very bizzare, because of their contrast to normal life. I write what I wish would happen, but that's not entirely true, the bad things less so. Things like magic and dragons, I write those because I with they would emerge from the page and become real. What Made you decide you liked to write? My aptitude to do very well in the creative writing section of my English syllabus in school. I always did really well. Then I began to write for personal pleasure. I'd give my writings to my parents to read and the ony thing they could say afterward would be: "What happens next?" I've even moved my mother to tears on more than one occasion, but she's a softie anyway. But I guess it means I'm at least a half-way decent writer, and I loved reading, but I wanted to make a story that I'd love to read, with my ideas and thoughts. What Do You Write? Cogito, your comment about writing being prompted by a movie or a TV program I saw struck a chord. If I had a nickel for every time I watched somethng and observed that this was not right, that didn't work, etc., I'd be rich. So I guess that, from my perspective, writing has to be plausible, it has to make sense; I expect characters to be rational and to act rationally for me to be able to suspend, at least momentarily, my inate inclination to dsbelieve (to use the time-honored expression from Coleridge). When a character does something that doesn't make any sense at all or doesn't do somethng that is obvious, I get flustered and figure I could do a better job at writing the scenario. What compels you to write: I write because words are entertainment. Stories and ideas come naturally to me just as breathing comes naturally to others. And a foremost reason: Words and stories immortalize individuals. I would like to be immortalized. Shakespeare is a great example of being immortalized. Why do you write: I write because writing allows me to bring all these ideas out of my head and onto paper. I know someone out there will enjoy what I write and because of that I will continue to write. After all, it is who I am; I am an entertainer. What makes you write what you write: I write to entertain. I despise stories that cause readers to drop the book after four or five pages because they are so boring, or their hook is terrible or confusing. What made you decide you liked to write: I can't remember because I was so young. I just know, I have an imagination, and this makes stories come to me so easily. I have a gift that allows me to see what I am about to write. It plays like a little movie inside my head, so I see the details, the setting, the people and hear what they say all in my head. It makes writing that much easier. What do you write: There are no limits to what I write. I write short stories to big project novels to long and encompassing series. I enjoy all sorts of genre types, and I just write the ideas that come to my head. Simple as that.
