What compells you to write? I don't know. It's just what I do. It's one of the few things I actually enjoy doing. Why do you write? To get things off my chest (feelings, thoughts), to express everything I can't say out loud. And if someone relates to something I've written, it's always a plus for me. I think writing and art in general is a mixture of striving for our own kind of perfection and touching other people at the same time. What makes you write what you write? Love for my characters and plot points. Granted, they rarely come out as I wanted them, but I love them nonetheless. What Made you decide you liked to write? To quote ABBA in the song "Thank You For The Music", "mother says I was a dancer before I could walk". The same thing (sort of) happened to me with writing. I learned to read when I was 5 years old and by the next year I was already writing. I don't recall "deciding" to write. What Do You Write? All kinds of fiction, but mostly romance and slice-of-life stories. I try to diversify a bit and write horror, supernatural and even fantasy whenever I can.
What compells you to write? It's releasing on an emotional level. Why do you write? If I didn't I think my brain would implode with ideas. What makes you write what you write? Mostly I'm influenced by past experiences, present situations, and future dreams. In short, life. What Made you decide you liked to write? I didn't decide, really. I've been keep journals and writing stories since I learned how to make the letters! What Do You Write? Right now my main focus is young kidlit adventures.

Thoughts are too elusive, they fade if you put a enough together in a string. Writing, more than anything, helps me dig deeper into that thought because I can review the strings of thought on paper, which in memory would have faded. I write to understand myself honestly.
What compels you to write? Could be anything, looking at someone on the subway, a sound, a particular word said by someone. Why do you write? That's a very had question, my best guess is that I write to express certain feelings that I could not express in any other way. What makes you write what you write? My mood mainly. What Made you decide you liked to write? Seeing the reaction of people reading my creations What Do You Write? Mainly nursery rhymes and short stories for kids, but I also write poetry in Italian language.
My writing echoes the incomprehensible that I am trying to comprehend inside of my head. It is an outlet for feeling, an inlet for discussion. It is my passion to create and inspire; writing is one way I exercise such desire. Similarly, to encourage others is another reason why I write. Also, I can remember when I see a message rather than just hear it. Ideally (for me), I do both. I often have subtitles on the TV, YouTube, etc. I try to maximize a learning experience by incorporating each of the senses. Writing/reading seems a good sandbox for the senses. However, it is also a tar pit that can leave one feeling stuck. Finally, I like writing for the same reason I hate it: It can be edited. "I like" does not mean that "I'm good" at it. My love for this language only grows.
What compells you to write? Writing is a way for me to express thoughts, ideas, and to be more open. Why do you write? I write because it helps to validate that my thoughts, perspectives, and what not are not meaningless at least for me. (Wow I am sensing some serious issues with outer expression.... lol.) I live inside my head and it helps that I can jot down my thoughts/impressions/musings down and build on that. I am also more brave this way. I am not confined to one thing or another. I am me and that's ok. What makes you write what you write? Mostly a combination of strange thoughts and an inability to express. What Made you decide you liked to write? When you snort at your own thoughts you should probably write them down. I just ended up building on those ridiculous thoughts. What Do You Write? I think in terms of manga classification which would be adventure, romance, and fantasy and possibly parody. Yes... I know I am a dork.
What compels you to write? I don't feel like I am compelled to write, but at the same time, I am very passionate about writing. If I did feel like I had to write, I wouldn't enjoy it as much as I do. Writing for me is just a way to escape the drab and often disappointing reality that is life. I don't have to escape, but it is nice to escape whenever I do choose to write. Why do you write? I write to help deal with the problems I face in real life. If I did choose to give up writing, I don't think I'd cope as well as I do. Writing is the door way to a whole new world. A world where whatever you write becomes fact. You're in control of what you write and no one can take that away from you. What makes you write what you write? I write what I write because it reflects how I feel at the time. I find it easier to write during a troublesome period rather than when I'm bouncing off the walls and happy as a clam. Writing helps me release my pent up emotions. What Made you decide you liked to write? When I wrote the first sentence to my first short story, the feelings was incredible. I was in euphoria and I felt like the world was mine and I could do what I wanted. It was also a great way to spend the evenings. I decided that writing was something I enjoyed and I was actually pretty good at it. I was finally good at something and it was something no one could take away from me. What Do You Write? I write short articles about controversial topics that I feel are important at the time. I write short stories that never progress into anything and I'm currently working on a novel. Sometimes I write small sort of Comic Book scripts because it would be nice to write a comic book.
I write to escape reality. When Im in one of the worlds of my own creation it's like nothing else matters. This was a tactic I used to no ends when I was incarcerated and things would get hard around me, I'd get lost in another time where dragons are real and heroes are stuck in a life or death struggle against a horrible villain. I found writing to be therapeutic and Im ashamed to say that since Ive been out these last couple of months I've allowed the struggles of the real world to distract me from writing and my emotional state has suffered. I couldn't understand how it could be possible for me to have been happier while incarcerated than I am out her until I woke up the other day and realized what It was that was missing from life was my passion: writing... Basically I write because I like the worlds I create inside my head better than the one Im currently living in and writing allows me to escape for a while. I also really enjoy the responses both positive and negative I get from readers who get into my books. I cant wait until I get to 20 posts so I can post one up here lol =]
I don't think I have ever asked this question of myself, nor has anyone else asked this of me. It was just simple to me. I write. That's what I do. If I really have to sit here and think about it, I guess I can answer with the fact that writing is a release for me. Not like a stress release. I guess I could say I have a wild imagination, and writing gets that all out for me. It's like part of me that needs to be let out and create this story and the only way it can be is through writing it as a book or story. If I don't, each idea, each thought builds up on itself until my head is stuffed with all these stories that I cannot concentrate on anything else.
Why do I write? Why do I like it? What compels me? Because it's fucking fun and my brain would explode if I never released my creative energy. Especially since I'm an ADHD space cadet, I have so much stuff in my brain. What do I write? Usually thriller/action/drama stuff, sometimes with sci-fi or fantasy. Sometimes historic. I've also been doing more drama/comedy/romance stuff more recently, though those things still have dark elements. It's kind of difficult to describe my overall style without a big list of notable traits. Does anyone want that?
There may be forces unknown that compel me to write, but I keep telling myself its because I can't find many books that I like. Simple as that. I haven't read a lot lately because I'm not interested in anything it seems. Or a good book just doesn't grab me. So I write things that I would enjoy reading, and just pray that other people will too.
I always saw things differently from other people. There's nothing romantic about it, I think it has a lot to do with the way I grew up and perhaps also a certain thing I would prefer not to talk about. Whenever I tried to express my different point of view though, people would become mad at me or offended and not even bother to understand fully what I was saying. So I think I write for the same reason people naturally tell their surroundings what they think about things, how they feel, etc. I simply want to be acknowledged for the person I am and the views I have. I just seem to need an awful lot of words to be understood.
What compels me to write? It`s something I like to do and I've been told I'm somewhat good at it. I began writing when I was younger, I always had a vivid imangatoin. I remember telling storys to my cats as a kid. Never got written down but they were in these large fantasy worlds so I consider it my start. As life got tougher I was drawn to escapism more, fantasy books movies and etc . Began writing fanfic and the ilk. The first time my writing really got validated was hen there were these historical fiction essay contests at school and I win it two years in a row. My main goals in terms of writing now are to tell a great story as it always should be but at I got older I like to put ideas or things to mull over into my work.
Like most people here, I like being creative, and like expressing my creativity. However, I don't really hold book writing in special regard, I would have gone writing video game or movie scripts if I could, but books are the only things that you can start without external requirements - all you need is yourself and MS word. No being hired for a company or anything, only after you're sure what you made was good, you could go to a publishing company. EDIT: I actually tried to make a video game by myself but learning game engines and their specific code languages was exhausting and making indie games would be far riskier than books anyways.
What compels you to write? I have been a writer since I was, like 7. Being a write for me is like breathing. Why do you write? It is what I am good at What makes you write what you write? What compells you to write? Emotions. If I don't at least try and get when I'm feeling down I'm almost positive I would explode. Why do you write? I want to make people feel the way I do. What makes you write what you write? My head? My heart? Whichever one hurts the most at the time. What Made you decide you liked to write? In 1st grade I wrote a short story that my teacher thought was amazing. It was a mystery story and it's the worst thing I have ever read. What Do You Write? Poetry mainly.
I can only speak for myself, mind you, but I'm reasonably sure other poets would understand. They may not be able to explain the "why" any better than I can, but they would surely understand. A good friend once asked me why I write poetry. Judging by the pinched look on her face, she might as well have asked me why I juggle poisonous snakes, or worse, why I lick germy old fly swatters. Well, maybe the look on her face wasn't quite that bad, but when she asked the question, she definitely had the look of someone who was, at the very least, sucking on a lemon.
What compells you to write? I'm compelled to tell my story and to prove my learning disability will NOT stop me! Why do you write? I enjoy it, it relaxes me and I at the same time excites me, I love it when I get a great idea and I quickly jot it down in my note book What makes you write what you write? I have always had a crazy imagination, I'm a child at heart and have been inspired by lots of story tellers, I have no idea where my ideas come from, most of them are beyond crazy but make me laugh, I just hope other people will like it too! What Made you decide you liked to write? Boredom, I was stuck with no internet for several months and started writing a book, just so happened a 9 year old and 12 year old girls next door wanted to read it and every time I made a new chapter they wanted to read more, every night they came round to read to them for about 6 months and it encouraged me to carry on! What Do You Write? I have only written one book so far and it's a kids story, kind of a combination of magic and Pokemon
Hello, my first day on this forum so I am just going through the threads to see where I can get involved and this seems like a good place so here it goes: What compells you to write? - I am a fairly creative person, I play a couple of musical instruments and write songs and lyrics. Some of the lyrics I write I think they can be expanded and they give life to my stories. Why do you write? I enjoy the challenge of creating and also I have always thought everyone of earth is good at something but nearly all fail to find that thing. And ill be dammned if on my deathbed I think I should have tried x,y and z. What makes you write what you write? - I am pretty sure I will never achieve notoriety in my music or storytelling in my life time, but I like the idea that in a 100 years time one of my failed works is found by a young child and upon reading it it shapes the childs life and they go onto greatness (don't know if that is naïve or egotistical) What Made you decide you liked to write? I think I first realised I loved to write when I was attempting to become a journalist (very short spell, wrote for my local paper for a few months). And I enjoyed being behind the keyboard writing than going talking to people. What Do You Write? Alsorts, I like writing poetry, stories, music. Never stick to one genre.
