I'm seriously considering upgrading Myt current vesrion of Windows XP Media Edition to Windows Vista Ultimate Eition. But I'm still unsure. I know little to nothing of Vista. Anyone here with Windows Vista. Could you give me any knowledge of it compared to XP. what makes it better. Screen shots advice knowlege anything. I'd be very grateful. I'm seriously thinking of buying the OEM version from my supplyer. Any help. ~Raven.
My dad works for an IT company (Fujitsu) and I know his company has a policy of waiting until the first patch is released for a piece of software, before using it. That way all the major kinks will have been worked out. However, I haven't heard any major complaints about Vista, so it may well be alright. I'm a bit sketchy as to what the differences between Vista and XP are, but I'm confident a quick google search could reveal that, and also any bugs in the system
If you do decide to get it, I agree with waiting for the SP1 or whatever they'll have for it. To me, it seems to be XP with 3D window scrolling. If your current OS is still working for you, I'd stick with that. I don't own it, but I've used it and I know others who own it.
Yeah, I don't get what's so special about Vista. Adamant's description seemed to sum it up. Also, this comic especially gave me room for doubt: Ctrl+Alt+Del
Old mate vista is VERY flashy. It looks great, there is no doubt about it, but I dont know how it runs.
I haven't tried it yet and was thinking about upgrading to Vista. Probably wait a bit longer though. People I know have updated to it no problems at all, but I am waiting a bit longer. Crazy Ivan that comic is hilarious!
The thing is. We will all end up on a version of Vista at some point. But I can get the OEM version of Vista Ultimate. (The Version that contains the full windows Vista Supplement) And the Future is the way forward. I was just hoping someone would have any idea of what it can do that XP can't. What its Pro's and Cons are.... Love the sketch Ivan very funny.
Your want to make sure your pc can handle it first use Upgrade Advisor if haven't got duel-core its gonna be quite sluggish though.
Oh my PC can candle. Its an expensive PC. Packard Bell. When i bought it it came with the sticker Windows Vista Ready. But i bought it 4 weeks before Vista came out. Its got far more than the minium specs needed.
You could run both OS on the same pc that way if you dont like Vista delete it and your still have your old OS.
I have vista. and it is much more organized than xp. with me i see the difference in media pplayer (that i don't use because of my zune). but vista is a mile less stressed.
Actually I am updating my laptop as I think that Vista is pretty darn good. Better than XP anyways. I had my worries before, but I prefer vista over XP now
I am seriously considering it. But as many say XP media centre version is smooth. But then I have noticed alot of the new games are Vista Compatible only i.e. halo 2 and the the unreal tournament. So somewhere down the line we will all end up on Vista.
Yeah that is one of the reasons for me going over to vista to be honest. It is really efficient and works great. No use fighting the envitable I say lol (If my spelling is incorrect it is cause I've had no sleep so I apologise for that!)
m having the same problems too, but the things i heard about vista are noooooooooo good... they say it's full of little hassles, just annoying little hassles... but ive never used it before, so i can't tell... i bought the CD but m too chicken to download it ROFL!! heehe
Actually Raven it is the better to get. From my knowledge and what i have been told, the cheaper option is not the best option at the moment. If you are going to get Vista you may as well go for the best you can get.
I have Vista its far batter than old XP infact once you get used to the new layout you'll never return to the XP world again.
The only games anyone needs to be worried about playing is CALL OF DUTY 4: MODERN WARFARE and ROCK BAND! Haha... you can watch the videos. CoD4 makes you input an age, but it's not much a hassle. I used to game on computers, but now I've switched to consoles for the moment. While I realize FPS's on PC give you way more control, you also have to keep paying to upgrade your graphics card, processor, motherboard, RAM. You end up paying way more in the long run, besides, playing on consoles allows everyone to be on equal terms. PS: I now hate ATI. Death to the infidels!
