Well, it is that time. Daniel's working holiday visa is due to run out in 8 days and so we have got together all our paperwork and proof and are going up town today to send off his Permanent Residency application on the grounds of our continuing defacto relationship! I'm really nervous. I mean REALLY nervous. Even though we tick all the boxes and have a genuine relationship, they may still reject his application. I don't know how long it will be before they let us know what is going on, I hope it won't be too long to be honest. So for the next, how ever many months, Dan and I will be crossing our fingers and hoping that he gets accepted. I'm so damn nervous!!!! Wish us luck! Sherie x
I said it in the 'Greatest Fears' section. I sincerely wish you two all the best, and I will have my fingers cross for you both.
Much positive energy from me to you both! How stringent is Australia when it comes to people of other countries living there? I translate for people all day who are in search of legalizing their status in the U.S.
Well, they let my uncle and cousin live there; so it can't be that bad. If you knew what these two people are like you'd know what I mean.
Best of luck! I'm hoping to ship my man here so I sympathize with your situation. I hope it all works out for you guys.
Thanks everyone. They let more people in here than most places I think. We had 285,000 last year that came to stay. That is a lot! We are apparently going to be over populated due to people immigrating. So they are actually cutting back on the number they let in, so I'm nervous. Cosmo, good luck. I hope things work out for you and your partner. xxx
Good luck--I hope everything works out absolutely in your favor. Until then, there's really nothing you can do about it, so try to relax. You've done all you could, now it's out of your hands.
I could always go to the immigration department and stand over them with a bomb and tell them that I refuse to go away till they process and accept the application. But that would require me finding them and I get lost in the little town I live in and have lived in for 26 years LMAO! May just be easier to pack Amity into the application and she can scare them into accepting Dan's application instead LOL! Thanks Gigi
good luck~! i'll probably be visa-applying sometime soon, too... but my boy is third-worlder, so way harder suckitudinous.
Good luck, Tor. I'm sure everything will work its way out. It's not like you dont have proof. LOL... I didnt know it was so hard though...
Best of luck These kinds of procedures, paperwork etc are always terrible but in a clearly genuine case like yours I'm sure that things will work out! Remember: don't lose your cool with officials, no matter what dumb thing they ask you to bring or prove (they adore doing this, perk of the job to make people squirm). Take as many documents as you can rake together in a dossier (birth certificates, work history, driving licence, tax returns, doctor's checkup notes, elementary school swimming diploma etc etc). Don't show them until you're asked, but then you'll be able to flourish them if you suddenly have to produce xyz.
thank you all, it means so much to our little family. I hope it all goes well when the time goes darl. If you need someone to chat to about it all when the time comes just pm me. I'll be gla when we hear something back from them now.
Hey hun, I hope everything goes smoothly! As long as you've given them all they needed, & you've done as much as you can, then just relax and take it easy =] It should all be okay for you. Lots of love & prayers for the family though! x
thank you for the support everyone. It means a lot to us. All we can do now is anxiously await the verdict of Australian Immigration. I don't think I have been this nervous in a very, very long time now. love and hugs Sherie
