Ignore this: the workshop IS member's only. (Given that I was not alone in this misunderstanding, perhaps it could be displayed more prominently.) I just think this would be a good idea. As things stand I am only ever inclined to post those frivolous pieces I have little attachment to.
I agree. When I was looking for short-story magazines to submit to, many of them specified that member-only forums were okay to post work in and for it to still be considered unpublished, whereas if it was available for anyone, like here, it couldn't be submitted.
I agree with this too. If there was a members only workshop, I would use it much more than the current workshop. And this would mean that I would critique there more often as well. I've recently joined a members-only critique circle for this reason.
I thought that was already the case? Yep, just tested it by Googling a random workshop paragraph inside quotes and there were no hits.
I'll third that. It would be a wonderful feature. I also don't see a particular reason why it should be accessible to non-members - after all, it is the place where works in the making are supposed to be critiqued, rather than being finished pieces.
You are correct, I just never went deep enough into the thread to find out- you have to click on the individual post before you are blocked. Well, that was a fun little excursion.
