Graphic Novels Writing a More Dramatic Graphic Novel

Discussion in 'Genre Discussions' started by Duchess-Yukine-Suoh, Sep 11, 2013.

I decided to take some of my earlier works and make them into graphic novels. The problem is that graphic novels have not really evolved beyond superhero/classic/horror yet, so there isn't a whole lot I can reference from.
My graphic novels have A LOT of backstory and plot, so just message me if you want to know more.

Any advice/tips on writing a graphic novel? Also, is it OK if my drawing are manga-esque for a "mainstream" graphic novel?

    Do your homework! ;)

Look beyond the mainstream: use the internet to source more underground works/independent publishers and you'll find that there is a huge variety of narrative, art styles, and genres out there. Read and analyse as much of it as you can - that's the most effective way to learn.
