Writing horror or gothic type fantasy?

I write fantasy without the usual suspects in it and have kept everything low key up until now but I'm considering adding a few non-human types in currently.

The evil clown that was mentioned on the first page makes me think of It by the way. I watched that film two days ago.

 

LOL that's just one of the many sections in it. I've been reading the phsycopomps section interesting

That was what I was trying to accomplish with one of my stories, but turned out bad. Real bad.
