Mine has to be Judge Dredd with Stallone. Having never read the comics i dont really care about all the flaws people say it has and it's a pretty solid action film. I would go as far to say that it's better than the Karl Urban one, as if i wanted a film about fighting in a tower block then i would just watch The Raid because it does it far better.
Princess Diaries 1. It's just such a cute fairy tale and I just find the characters relateable and sympathetic. Speaking of fairy tales... Coyote Ugly. I know the movie has been universally lambasted and has a terrible rotten tomatoes score, but I have such good memories of watching it with my friends, and it actually had a positive impact on me when growing up. It taught me more about being an independent, brave woman than movies or TV shows that probably had that very intention, ironically enough. But I'm not apologizing. It's a fun, free-spirited, and energetic movie with horrible music, unbelievable twists and situations, and awkward moments (like John Goodman dancing on a bar counter), but regardless, I like it. I think another reason why I still find it so charming is that it hasn't been diluted by liberal Puritans and, from my point of view, it didn't put women into a rigid box of what you are or are not allowed to be. It even touched the subject of slut-shaming before it was trendy, and in a small way taught me not to apologize for the crazy things we'd do with my female friends.
Has to be Friday, I've seen it so much I can literally quote the movie word for word and still I haven't gotten tired of watching it which I guess is the sign of a good movie.
The three Highschool Musical movies. I'm a sucker for cheese and those movies are probably the cheesiest things I can think of as far as movies go.
Power Rangers - the Movie: 'What's that terrible smell? Teenagers, heh heh, hah...' 'We're the Power Rangers, ya, ha, woo, chop fuey.' If I recall, a very long time ago. Also evangelical highs watching 'Jesus Christ Superstar,' Gethsemane, for example in the front room, or facing my people: 'It seems to me a strange thing...myst-ify-ing, how a man like him/ can find blergh blergh blergh.../in a woman of her kind...' 'Hey cool it, man...' [falsetto] ..
Wild Wild West. The film bombed but Ken Branagh's script, accent & performance has had me watch it many times over.
Do you mean 'The Usual Suspects' ? There's no guilt in that pleasure if you do. Agree though that True Lies is quite watchable even though it bombed.
Haha, yes, that's what I meant. I blame auto correct for that one. Thanks for pointing that out. Loved Spacey in that movie. I'll go ahead and edit that now... True Lies is a bit cheesy, but I'm all for it!
The obvious answer is anything country (with Whiskey Lullaby taking the cake) Of all the songs fighting for second place-
The Usual Suspects is by many considered one of the best movies of all time. I don't agree in particular, but considering its wide critical acclaim, that's hardly a "guilty pleasure". It's not like it's a bad movie, like The Room, which is beloved by all who watch it none the less. True Lies is delightfully corny, but it's self aware. It's exactly what it intends to be, and by all accounts it is a very good movie. Its intended silliness doesn't make it a particularly "guilty" pleasure. It's just a good old pleasure!
Let's give this a go again since I was a little befuddled on this guilty pleasure thing. So, movies I watch that were deemed terrible. Bloodsport Overboard I guess I don't have many...will add if and when I think of them.
