I think most kids go though a phase of pyromania. I know I did. A friend of mine, one dry summer, set fire to a whole field ..and the (empty) barn that stood at its centre. Such larks. - The simple pleasure of knocking at a friend's door and asking, "Are you coming out to play?" (No need for an advanced call. No need to check schedules or consult with partners. Try that as an adult.) - Endless football matches in the local park. - Playing 'Kiss chase' in the playground. Sometimes running very fast, sometimes not so fast, all depending on which girl was doing the chasing... (but not making it too obvious so as to avoid hurt feelings). - Playing Scrabble with my grandfather. - Finding porn mags in the bushes.
No. I live in a house. Maybe it is you that lived in a cave all your life. Are you saying cave people did not ride a horse?
I did understand as riding a horse then I saw BACK.....then I though it must be riding but backward...
Not really no. Kids are very good at copying adults. They have seen it done somewhere so they go and do the same because they think it is cool. Indeed..those were the good times
For a detailed run-down of some of my strongest childhood memories, see the last four entries to my external blog! Strong memories thanks to the side I played for that season being so almightily crap. Sitting on the touchline while my dad managed the same team a few years earlier is another strong memory, as well as moving house and having one of the family's friends make a mock-up World Cup with a football and a vase. Plenty of other footballing memories, some of which were less pleasant (though none as unpleasant as being part of a side that lost 26-0). As Art says, just knocking on friends doors and asking if they were coming out to play was awesome.
Going to Gettysburg. Going to Disneyland. Going to Six Flags. Playing videogames with my friends. Riding on a horse during a school picnic. Discovering a hidden level in Super Mario 64. Watching documentaries on Ancient Egypt and being fascinated with its mummies. The list goes on.
My parents thought it was adorable how my little sister and I were always playing pretend when we were munchkins. Like when we'd be in our room, playing with our Barbies and stuffed animals, my parents would hear our little pretend voices and they would laugh because they thought it was so cute. We also liked to play "school" out on the porch and we went on little adventures in the backyard and pretend the old playhouse out there was a spooky old house in the woods where a cannibalistic witch lived.
I had this little plastic tub about three feet long and a foot and a half wide. I'd keep my toys in it. I'd empty the toys out, sit in it, and line it with pillows, cushions, and teddy bears, then I'd ride it down my front stairs. It was easily one of the most fun things I did when I had nothing else to do.
my favorite childhood memory is a bit of advice I got from my dad when I was around six. He told me "If you aren't bleeding, you're not hurt." I took it to heart and would brush off injuries that my dad admits had made him wince. I still live by those words to this day though. ^^
My dad used to take me on very long walks when i was as young as six. he'd walk for kilometres sometimes and he'd walk fast and make me keep up. it was exhausting, but i appreciate that now. we'd always end up at some beachside cafe or market or bookstore and he'd buy me ice-cream or hot chocolate and a book. i'm still a good fast walker.
only in my brain... btw, 'horseback riding' simply means riding on the back of a horse... and it's a common word in american english, even if not in english english... and they're really called 'footie' pajamas ['footsie' is what you play with someone under the table at a restaurant! ]... the legs end in a covering for the whole foot, instead of being open... they were originally for small children and infants, but then some clever manufacturer started making them for adults, as well... see 'em here: http://www.google.com/webhp?rls=ig#hl=en&cp=5&gs_id=e&xhr=t&q=footie+pajamas&pf=p&sclient=psy-ab&rls=ig&biw=755&bih=387&site=webhp&source=hp&pbx=1&oq=footi&aq=0&aqi=g4&aql=&gs_sm=&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&fp=665329a2f257563d
