    One very important sci-fi feature. Sure, you can circumvent it by having people go into stasis or such. But then everyone not on the ship will have gone old/died by the time they get anywhere. Which would make any potential non-ship characters hard to have in such a story.

    Then again, there are stories where FTL ages everyone outside the ship as well.

    I wish I understood time differences better, but in my own universe time moves at the same speed everywhere. (Except for some instances where it is slowed or otherwise.)
