So now "quote" to reply to a post acts like the multi-quote function and you have to also hit reply. I figured it out but I'm guessing there will be questions.

But is the multi-quote "quote" working for you? I tried accumulating a few quotes from here and there in different threads using the quote button to bring them together in another comment I was making and I only got the one quote that came from the actual thread in which I was making the comment. The others that came from other threads wouldn't pop in for me. :(

I just hit "Reply" for each message I want to quote. The text of those messages is quoted in my edit window in the order I clicked them. It's very easy!

OK that's weird. What does "quote" do then. When I click on it it changes to "quoted" but I don't see where it's putting the quote.

As for multi-quoting, I did already see how that worked.

But if you're pulling quotes from different threads then that dynamic doesn't work. When I hit reply, I see a button that says "Load Quotes" that would seem to be the ticket, but no, only the quotes that come from within the thread in which I am posting, not from other threads.

You're way ahead of me, then. I never knew it was possible to quote from multiple threads in any forum platform. o_O

I think that's called cut and paste. ;)

I hit reply (quote) and copy the post I want to quote with the track back tags intact then paste it in another thread instead of just copying the text. (Not suggesting others don't know that.)

Yes, in vBulliten you could hit the MultiQuote button in various threads, then head to the thread where you want to use all these quotes for whatever reason and blam, they all showed up. The Xenforo site shows the function as an option, but I just saw that it costs money so I am going to now shut up.

@Daniel, is there a way to fix that pesky internal server error. I don't get them when posting messages, but I do get them when PMing. It's now gotten to the point where I can't send a PM at all.

@Daniel (and for anyone else who wants to know), it looks like images/smileys are the cause of the internal server error. So if anyone is getting that error when sending a PM, just be sure to not use smileys/images.

Whenever I see it, I delete any smilies in the quote or in my reply. Not a permanent solution, but it seems to consistently get rid of the error message. Maybe that will help pinpoint the problem.

Weird thing is, after posting I can sometimes edit the smiley back in without getting the error.

Best thing forum members can do to help Daniel track the issues is to note the exact time the error occurred and report it.

Love the new right hand column with all the updates by category. :D

Just encountered a new problem, when I'm on my iPad, home page is ok but as soon as I enter threads, new adverts literally block off/cover up top 1/5 of the page. I can't see top 2-3 threads at all. Scrolling or zooming in and out doesn't fix it.

That sounds like a browser not blocking ads issue rather than a forum issue, but I'm not an expert in this area. I thought I had ad block on and my son just showed me I didn't. All the banner ads are now gone. It's some ad block for Chrome that I just had to enable.

I don't have that option on the iPad, unfortunately. I don't mind the ads, I used to just scroll down a bit and they disappear from my field of vision, and I never had a problem until tonight. It's as if some ads are much 'taller' than others and they block out the content on the site when they appear. Not all ads, though (right now it's fine).

@Daniel, I got an error when trying to reply to a blog entry. The error occurred at around 12:10 AM EDT.

I'm now finding that when I click on a thread title, it takes me to a post far down the thread as if it were the "first unread", even if I haven't visited that thread before. Example - someone posts a new thread at 11 AM, I click on it at 4 PM and it goes directly to a response made at 3 PM, not the OP.

    daniel...
as i noted in the suggestions/corrections list you asked for that i sent to you, the categories in the 'short stories' section don't show which ones have had new posts, so i have to go to each section to find out...

it would save a lot of time and frustration, if you can find a way to show which have new posts on the main menu page... the old way worked much better imo, since we only had to click on 'short stories' and could then see which ones had new posts and which threads we had commented on already... i really miss that...

    Hi,

I think I have the same problem as Jazzabel. I'm on a PC and when I click to go to writing forums everything initially looks good. But a few seconds later the big blue bar at the top increases in size to cover a third of my screen and coincidentally covers over the first sub fora - i.e. general writing.

    Cheers, Greg.

For those of you with the ad issue, is it the ad itself that expands? Sort of like how some banner ads get large if you actually hover over them?

Ahh, I see, that helps a lot. I made a slight change. Fixed?

That should only have been an issue when the browser was a very specific width. Resizing it should've made it disappear, but I think it's completely fixed now.
