    Your Name's Meaning?!

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by adamant, Jul 25, 2007.

I was looking around on this site and noticed people have some pretty odd names. So... what exactly does yours mean? and how did you come to choose it?

adamant: a stone (as a diamond) formerly believed to be of impenetrable hardness; an unbreakable or extremely hard substance. Mine came from looking up 'adamantium', the metallic substance grafted to the skeleton of Wolverine.

On my previous forum I had the name 'Invictus', which is Latin for 'Unconquered'. My reason for using that was due to a poem with the same name as well as it being part of an expression I made. Invictus Ego or the 'Unconquered Self', my doctrine on how I believe life should be lived.

In video games, I've had a myriad of names. For an abbreviated list: adamant, stolenfire, invictus, combusteon, hybrid assault, black orifice, accel+, Hilary Duff, colossus, broken aim, ironman, dead pool.

I chose Torana cause I love the car. My dream car is a Holden Torana LJ GTR XU-1.

I am in love with them but alas I will never be able to have one :(. So yeah that is my reason behind my username.

Another I use is an alteration of my real name and another is due to and endless search for a username and I couldn't find one at the time, so I used namelessly endlessly. I like that one teehee

My name is awesome. 'Nuff said.
(Later on, I found out that the term "Crazy Ivan" is actually a submarine move. Who knew.)

It being tied in with the Russians makes it the cool thing to do. I believe I shall soon be changing my name to something along the lines of 'adamant kalashnikov molotov, tsar of ze motherland... cold war'.

Cogito is Latin for "I think". I first chose it for another forum that discusses a popular TV series, because I enjoy speculating on where the plot might go.

Another name I have used for years is TideRider (or Tide Rider). It has nothing to do with surfing - I have never ridden a surfboard in my life (so far). But I hold the registration to the domain name tiderider.net, and it's the domain my web sites are posted on. TideRider refers to taking what life hands you and going with it, instead of wearing yourself out fighting to go in a different direction. I chose the name when my marriage was disintegrating and I finally understood that there was nothing more I could do to prevent it.

Aww...am I too late for the lollies?
Well, in case I'm not, here are some specifications as to what the ingredients should be. I'm on a diet, you know.
    -Crazy Ivan's craziness
    -DivineLemon's lemonade
    -Lyco's hypnosis
    -Torana's iguana
-adamant's blood (he said blood of matyr is equal to ink of a scholar...so...)
    -Cogito's cornetto
    -Dropbear's tears (now that's the anthrax-ish ingredient)
    Got 'em?

    Thank you heather!

I chose my name for a few reasons.

    1. I love lemons.
    2. I love oxymorons.

Divine: Of or pertaining to a god, esp. the Supreme Being.

Lemon: A person or thing that proves to be defective, imperfect, or unsatisfactory; dud.
