I saw it 7 times at the cinema and watch it on a regular basis. For over 20 years I've been able to say Leeloo's full name off by heart. Leeloominaï Lekatariba Lamina-Tchaï Ekbat De Sebat

It has a fairly strong fan base and legacy.

Tbh, depending on my mood, I have two different sets of "top 10 favorite movies of all time". One consists of 10 movies I genuinely like. Other is top 10 weirdest/most bizarre movies I ever saw. I usually show them to my friends, trying to first build up the tension, saying these are "undiscovered masterpieces" and proceed to watch their faces when the first "WTF" scene starts. If you're feeling brave, here's the list:

    1. Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack
    2. We Are The Flesh
    3. Zombie Fight Club
    4. Manos: The Hands of Fate
    5. Ricky-oh: The Story of Ricki
    6. Zombeavers
    7. Adam Chaplin
    8. Tokyo Gore Police
    9. Curse of the Snake Valley
    10. Travels of Mister Kleks

Those two last ones are Polish movies, so they probably never got an English translation, which is a shame because one of them has a fight scene involving giant noodles. Today, I'm in my ironic mood, but at some point, I might post my "top 10 favorite movies that are actually good movies" list. But not today:p

I did not realize this movie was loved so dearly! I strongly approve. I will probably need a bit of practice before I can go beyond "Leeloo Dallas Multipass."

If you can find this Japanese horror movie "Hausu," I'd highly recommend it for your WTF category. Many years ago I randomly found it on a movie channel late at night, but haven't seen it anywhere since.

    Green.

I can't manage Leeloominaï Lekatariba Lamina-Tchaï Ekbat De Sebat, but I used to be able to sing a good portion of Lucia da Lammermoor minus the Diva Dance highs and lows. High D was the best I could ever manage. I've probably watched the Diva scene alone about half the number of times I watched the entire movie.

I wish I was old enough to have seen it seven times at the theater. I know I would have.

The fanbase is still alive and kicking too, partially supported by the movie's accessibility and novel style.

One of my favorite science fiction, because it leverages the oddity that it is with a special sort of grace.

I went to the movies a lot. I saw Saving Private Ryan 7 times too. Black Hawk Down 6 times, Titanic 9 frikkin times (hey, everyone kept asking me to join them). I even saw Lost in Space twice in the one day despite not liking it.

Nice. I only managed to remember it because I had a postcard on my wall that had her full name on it. Not sure where that postcard ended up.

Speaking of DiCaprio, another film I never seem to tire of is Catch Me if you Can.

Anyone like movies with ugly characters? Dicaprio is too pretty sometimes.

I’m not sure I’ve ever liked a movie, based solely on the fact it uses ugly actors.

Well ugly actors aren't the goal. But his prettiness can be distracting. :D

Yeah but he’s an amazing actor so he can be forgiven his prettiness. If such an attribute needs forgiving.

Paul Giamatti is my favorite actor who is not generally considered good looking.

Way Down East is another movie I've seen several times. The scene where she baptizes the baby is one of the most heartbreaking moments in cinema. I came across the movie when I was stuck in a hotel room during a seminar, had finished my book, and was reduced to scanning the TV for something to watch (I haven't had a television for fifty years- not a fan). Discovered a channel that was nothing but silent movies, and it was the best thing on by far.

Tokyo Gore Police! haha. I can't believe someone listed that. Awesome. Best scene is when that chick slices off the molester's hands with a katana and he sprays blood like a toy lawn sprinkler for the kids. He's screaming, waving his arms about like a muppet. Then she puts up her umbrella, and while she strolls away this Reservoir Dogs music starts playing. I was laughing so hard.

Is Gyo an anime? That's Junji Ito, right? (Of course it is. What am I saying. There can't be two movies like that.)

(For the readers: Here, imagine this scene with blood.)

Reminds me of Kill Bill, which I can't believe I forgot to list. I've watched vol. 1 so many times, and vol 2 about half as many.

Yup, it's an anime movie. I haven't read the manga yet, but the movie was wild. It starts off like your regular monster movie but gets crazier and crazier with every scene. I don't know why, but movies based on Junji Ito's work are always corny as hell - same happened with the live-action "uzumaki" adaptation.

Yeah, Uzumaki is way out there. I like it, but it's not a good movie. I wish they would have made it into a series. Ten or twelve episodes ending with that surreal Dr. Seuss world from the manga. That would have been crazy.

I read the Uzumaki manga and really enjoyed it, but that kind of really nasty body horror isn't something I can return to very often. For the same reason I respect Cronenberg's The Fly but can't really watch it.

For me, having watched so many of the old school kung fu, western, and samurai exploitation films that Tarantino homages, I don't really enjoy Kill Bill that much, because it just makes me want to reach for the old stuff that's more straightforward fun and less winking at the audience.
