    Your Writing Playlist

Discussion in 'Entertainment' started by Sclavus, Sep 6, 2017.

I couldn't find a thread like this elsewhere and didn't know where exactly to put this, so here goes. @Wreybies or whoever, feel free to move it if you think it's warranted.

What music inspires you in your writing? Ever get an idea from a music video? What do you play when you're in a writing mood? Share your videos, lyrics, etc.

Lately I've been digging on the "Resident Evil" and "Silent Hill" OSTs.

Between my faves list and my mellow list, it is bloody chaos. :D

Lately it's been mostly Smashing Pumpkins and string quartets.

I have a pretty eclectic collection of music so if I'm ever stumped on ideas for a new scene I'll just let my entire playlist run through. I have everything from South Park Christmas songs on there to Avenge Sevenfold and Billy Idol. Hearing all the different genres definitely helps me get the ideas flowing.

Usually starts with Skynyrd. "Mama told me when I was young..."

If I play music while I write, it's one of two things: the Skyrim soundtrack or a Trap mix.

Writing to my mood tonight, so it's Billy Joel. "I Go to Extremes," "You May Be Right," and "Just the Way You Are." For grins and giggles (or not so much), I've thrown in Fun. ("Some Nights"), along with a lot of "the Franks:" Sinatra and Valli.

I have a collection of Celtic songs I found on youtube for when I write fantasy. For my other books as of now, I have two particular songs on repeat:

Posthumus - Nara and The Arrival Of The Birds - Cinematic Orchestra.

The Arrival really gets me going.
