I don't know if this counts as "self-publishing" in the same sense that most people on this site would have in mind, but I've found it quite useful and fun to compile works into "zines" and print them myself to give to friends and acquaintances. There's something neat about having full creative control and freedom at very little cost (all you need is a working printer loaded with ink and paper, as well as a computer with suitable software).
