I wrote an essay for my college writing course that I'm rather proud of. It's it's an experiential essay about the effect of domestic abuse on the children who witness it. I think that it could help put things in perspective for a lot of people but I'm not sure where or how to get it published? Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
If you just want to get it read, you could put it on a blog or web page - and maybe keep on writing. I'm reminded of the Spoon Theory essay and the associated writings on the author's blog/website. (I haven't looked deeply into the website so I can't vouch for it as a model for what to do, it's just the first example of a much-referred-to online essay that came to mind.)
